Per-Kiosk Parts
One of each per game machine, unless noted.
| # | Part | Spec / Model | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Kiosk device board | Raspberry Pi 4 — 4GB recommended Buy on Amazon → |
The kiosk software image is built for the Pi 4. Do not substitute a Pi 5. |
| 2 | microSD card | 64GB A2/U3 — Amazon Basics 64GB A2 Buy on Amazon → |
32GB absolute minimum. Holds the kiosk software image. |
| 3 | Power supply | Official Raspberry Pi 15W USB-C (5V/3A, Pi 4 version) | Don't cheap out here — under-powering causes random "mystery offline" issues. |
| 4 | Enclosure | Pi 4 case with fan / heatsink Buy on Amazon → |
Lives inside the game cabinet — good airflow matters. |
| 5 | Serial hub | StarTech ICUSB2324I — 4-port USB to DB9 RS232 (FTDI FT4232H) Buy on Amazon → |
This exact chipset is required — the kiosk software expects it. Includes the USB A-to-B cable and mounting brackets. |
| 6 | Serial cables ×2 | DB9 serial cables, StarTech to board COM ports Buy on Amazon → |
Banilla: port 3→COM3, port 4→COM4. Jenka: port 1→COM1, port 4→COM4. |
| 7 | Bill validator USB cable | USB data cable, bill validator to kiosk device Buy on Amazon → |
Data only — the validator stays powered from the machine harness. |
| 8 | Ethernet cable | Length to reach the cabinet | Wired strongly preferred; Wi-Fi is supported as a fallback. |

- Buy the bench power harness: wall plug harness for Apex/Platinum bill acceptors — used to power the validator on a bench while configuring it Pyramid Shop →
- Download the configuration software: the Platinum Tools utility (Windows) is required to set the validator's interface settings before it will talk to the kiosk device Download Platinum Tools →

Shared Route-Tech Tools
One set per route tech — not per kiosk.
- SD card reader for flashing — Acer USB 3.0 reader
- Mounting hardware — velcro, standoffs, or zip ties to secure the Pi and StarTech inside the cabinet
Already at the Location
Prerequisites, not purchases.
- Banilla or Jenka game machine
- Internet drop and a spare power outlet inside or near the cabinet
Spares: keep one full spare kit per ~10 deployed devices, with SD cards and serial cables stocked at double that rate — they're the most failure-prone items.
